The SAME/TISP organizations are honored to host the 2004 Fall Board Meeting of the Society of American Military Engineers' Board of Direction. Comprised of approximately 50 members, the Board of Direction consists of the President, the First Vice President, two Vice Presidents, Regional Vice Presidents, the Chair of the Academy of Fellows, the Treasurer, the General Counsel, the Executive Director, twenty-one Elected Directors, up to six Directors appointed by the President (Appointed Directors), the two Immediate Past Presidents of The Society, and the Vice Presidents-at-Large.

The Elected Directors are elected by The Society to serve for three years, provided that the term of office of at least seven Elected Directors expires each successive year. Also, if any Elected Director is elected an officer of The Society, a new Elected Director shall be elected in his place as provided in the Bylaws. Elected Directors may not succeed themselves in office. This restriction does not apply to replacement Directors elected by the Board of Direction to serve unexpired portions of regular Board terms for those Directors who vacate their regular terms. Appointed Directors will serve for an indefinite term of office at the pleasure of the respective appointor. The Treasurer, General Counsel, and Executive Director are non-voting members of the Board of Direction.
